Initially, upon entering the room, Gary had harbored a hope of seeing Austin on his feet and well, of having a conversation that might alleviate the somber mood. His concern for Austin stemmed from several factors.

Austin, being a Mythical Type Alter, had sustained injuries so severe that even his extraordinary healing factor seemed to falter. Gary had never witnessed anything like it before; it was the first time a pivotal member of their crew had been so grievously wounded. However, instead of finding relief, his mood darkened further upon seeing who occupied the hospital bed – the very individual who had caused the trouble that ensnared Gary's own family.

"Gary, good to see you," Austin said. "Your mother asked me to keep an eye on the bastard who put her in this state, so I did. The doctors have him sedated right now, but judging by your expression, you want to talk to him."

"I recognize him too. He was with the Grey Elephants, wasn't he?"

Gary remained silent, instead moving closer to the hospital bed. He needed to get a good look at Gil’s face, to confirm it was indeed him. Now, there was no longer any room for doubt.

"He wasn't just with the Grey Elephants," Kai chimed in. "He attended our school. Not in my year, but Gary's. I remember him because he was on the school's rugby team."

"So, he was just a delinquent kid moonlighting in a gang while in school?" Austin inquired, unable to say too much on the subject, having been in a similar situation himself once.

"That's precisely what I intend to find out... how he got involved in all this, and why he attacked my Mother?" Gary raised his hand and pulled the IV needle from his forearm.

Gil would awaken soon.

In the adjacent room, Amy and her mother felt a knot of anxiety regarding what was about to unfold on the other side of the wall.

Upon regaining consciousness, Gil's eyes first registered the imposing figure of the man he had recently fought. Beside him stood a fair-haired young man. Then, as moonlight pierced the room, it illuminated Gary's face, revealing his green hair and his ferocious gaze.

Gil’s heart immediately began to pound erratically. Strength started to flow back into him, and he flinched, not towards Gary, but away, attempting to distance himself.

"I see you remember me," Gary stated. "I remember you too, Gil. Very... very well. And I have many questions for you."

Gil seemed to regain a semblance of composure. The fear was replaced by a nervous smirk, and he let out a low chuckle.

"Haha, what’s wrong? Your little town is falling apart due to the Phoenix attack? Came to beg me? Beg me to stop them from attacking your town? I bet you never thought I'd end up like this! Joined a Level 1 gang, with one of the Kings, and got incredible power. You can beg all you want, but I can’t wait for the entire Phoenix Gang to crush you. Then Raven and I will watch from above, and you’ll regret ever getting involved with us!" Gil erupted into manic laughter.

Everyone in the room allowed Gil to laugh for a while, until Austin finally spoke.

"Sooo... who’s going to tell him?" Austin asked.

"It’s actually quite amusing watching him laugh like that," Kai declared.

Through the tension in the room, Gil began to notice something amiss. The people around him didn't seem the least bit nervous. The more he pondered, the more he questioned why Gary was even present.

Wasn’t he supposed to be in prison..? Why was he standing here..?

"The Phoenix Gang is no more," Gary stated. "Sinn is dead... and I was the one who killed him."
